A fine crowd turned out on Sunday last to witness Kilkenny lead by six points to two after 20 minutes in their bid to retain the Walsh Cup. However, in the run up to the break a scoring tally and a Ger Healion goal saw the half time score read Kilkenny 0-10, Offaly 1-6.
Cats run out deserving winners in intermediate final
Kilkenny intermediates ran out deserving winners in their Leinster final against Dublin at Nowlan Park on Saturday. Michael Grace who came on as a sub scored 6 super points from play to help his side to victory. It was tit for tat throughout with the game resulting in extra time. However, Kilkenny’s strength and stamina proved to be the real difference as the clock ticked down in added time. Well-taken points from Michael Grace, Patrick Hogan and Niall Walsh all added to the difference. The Dubs kept the pressure on until the final whistle but the Cats held on to record a deserved victory. They will now face Galway in the semi-final in Tullamore this Saturday.

New micobrewery bar for Galway
Galway’s first microbrewery Bar has opened in Salthill with the official launch of its own organic Bay Ale and Bay Lager happening today. Owners Jason O’Connell and Niall Walsh will be proudly serving the first glasses of beer from behind the bar of their newest establishment, The Oslo Microbrewery Bar. Jason O’Connell says: “It’s great to bring a microbrewery like this to Galway, where anyone with a genuine interest in the process can pop in and actually see the casks where the beer is brewed”.
